Application Process

Right Course seeks to help children who want to make a better life for themselves. Only those children who are self motivated and have a "do what it takes to be successful" attitude will be considered. The whole purpose of this program is to give children the opportunity to play sports that they would not otherwise be able to afford on their own. This is not free money as it will have to be earned by giving back to the community. Any child who meets these requirements will have an opportunity to fill out an application and be considered for approval.

Each child considered will be asked to complete an application through our website. The application must be submitted thirty days prior to the need for the funds. The Board of Directors will meet a minimum of every three months to review and approve the request for funds.
During the selection process, the Board will use the following guidelines to select the recipients of the funds:

1.     The child must display characteristics of being a hard worker who strives to be successful

2.     Annual income of the household is less than $40,000/year

3.     Parent is currently employed

4.     Household is in Travis, Williamson or Hays county

5.     Child is between the ages of eight and fifteen

6.     Child is currently enrolled in school and willing to submit a recent report card to verify good attendance and a C Average or satisfactory performance, if applicable

7.     Child must be willing to perform community service for another local non-profit agency

8.     Must be willing to write a fifty word synopsis of what was learned from participating in the sporting activity or performing the community service

9.     The need for the funds must be directly related due to the participation in an athletic activity.

Anyone that has an application approved must agree to volunteer a specified number of work hours for another local non-profit agency. Volunteer orientations do not count as hours. The amount of financial assistance provided will dictate the number of hours of volunteer service that will be required from the applicant. At this time, the scale is as follows:

                    $50                         = 3 hour of volunteer service

                    $51    - $100           = 6 hours of volunteer service

                    $101  - $150           = 9 hours of volunteer service

                    $151  - $200           = 12 hours of volunteer service

                    $201 - $250           = 15 hours of volunteer service

In order that each child learns from the process, we are asking each child to write a short essay (approximately 50 words) in their own words about their experience in the sporting activity or in performing the community service. The essays will be completely anonymous and will be posted to our website so our donors can fully appreciate the value of their financial contributions to Right Course, Inc.
